Today's Sweating for the Wedding has a little twist to it. Nothing crazy, just mixing it up a bit. Wanna know why? Adam & I joined a gym this weekend...say what?! I haven't been a gym member for a few years, but Adam is wanting to shed a few pounds and tone up before the wedding and he really likes swimming, racquetball, etc to get his cardio in. There is a new gym near us that offers all of that plus a TON of cardio and weight equipment. They also have lots of fun group fitness classes, which is what I'm excited about. And the gym membership fits in our new budget...score!
I've always been kind of a loner when it comes to working out. Most of my friends like running, but they don't do as much strength training as me, so I've always just done it alone. It's gonna be pretty weird to be in a gym again, but I'm excited for the new opportunities. Honestly, I'll probably still do the majority of my strength training at home, just because that's what makes me comfortable. But I will be taking full advantage of the StairMaster machines and the group fitness classes at the gym.
I sat down Sunday and scheduled my workouts for all of this week. Some of the classes I plan on doing this week are Yoga, Cycle, and Bodyworks plus abs. I also have an appointment with a personal trainer on Friday. It's a complimentary appointment for becoming a member, so we'll see how it goes. Even though I'm a certified personal trainer, I've never actually been to a training session for myself!
Okay, on to what last week looked like. Here is an update photo:
And here is what I did workout-wise:
Monday: 20 minute ab circuit, 20 minute HIIT routine
Tuesday: 2-15 minute arm circuits, 50 lunges, 50 squats, 50 dead lifts, 30 minutes on the elliptical
Wednesday: 30 minute HIIT routine, 2-20 minute booty circuits
Thursday: 2-15 minute ab circuits, 50 squats, 50 dead lifts, 50 lunges, 15 minute booty circuit (this day I skipped cardio, because I felt so crappy)
Friday: 3.5 mile jog/power walk, 15 minute arm circuit, 40 minute full body sculpting routine
Saturday: Yoga, 10-ish mile bike ride downtown with Adam & some friends (hello, fitness can be fun!)
Sunday: 30 minutes on the stair machine at the gym
I wasn't feeling 100% this week so my workouts were pretty mellow compared to normal. I really made sure to listen to my body and lay off a little bit when I needed to. It seems like a little bug has been going around lately...a lot of people from my work have been sick, ugh! So make sure to steer clear from as many germs as possible...I don't want any of y'all to feel how I did this week!
Here's to week 4 of Sweating for the Wedding! And now Adam will be in on the fun...woo :) But I highly doubt he'll be wanting me to post update pictures of him, haha!
