Smell the Roses!

Last week of classes before Spring Break - alright...I can do this!
As you know, today is Monday which means it's time for Smell the Roses.
You can find out what it is here if you don't already know :)
.

Last week's challenge was to think about a goal you've been wanting to meet and to do something toward conquering that goal. This challenge was hard for me because I had so many goals to choose from. I have so many things that I want to accomplish that sometimes I just get overwhelmed.

I'm learning that taking small steps and taking each day as it comes is the key to not losing my mind though ;) This week I chose to pursue a goal that will eventually help me to reach the rest of my goals.

My goal was to create a schedule so that I am not behind and always stuck playing catch up when it comes to work and school. That means not sitting on my computer browsing Pinterest/blogs for hours on end ;) I love you guys, but I've got to start being more productive! Ah! This also came with giving myself a...bedtime. Yep. No more staying up until 3 am scrambling to get everything finished! Okay now that it's been set, I actually have to follow through ;) I also cleaned up my desk and organized my cork boards to help with my new scheduling.

FYI: March 5-11 is National Sleep Awareness Week so this goal came at the perfect time.
Now that I've shared my bedtimes on the Internet - you guys have to keep me accountable!

Another goal that I'm pursuing this week is to take more pictures.
As a blogger, this is where I struggle the most. I always forget to capture what I'm doing.
Maybe it's because I don't do much until the weekend, but still...I'm sure you guys would LOVE to see pictures of me at work and school right?! ;) I'm kidding. But I really am going to start taking more pictures throughout my days.

Did you work toward any goals this week? Grab a button, link up & tell me :)

This week's task:
Thank 3 people that consistently impact your life in a positive way.

We interact with so many people each day and sometimes we take the people that are by our side through every circumstance for granted. You know the kind of people that I'm talking about. The ones that no matter how many dumb mistakes you've made, they're still there for you. Or the ones that believe in your dreams and goals when everyone else thinks you're crazy. The people that are there no matter what happens in life. Whether it's your parents, your boyfriend/husband, or a friend that has been there for as long as you remember, why don't you find a way to say thank you to them this week? I bet it would make them feel super appreciated :)

Then we can come back next week to link up and brag about the awesome people in our lives...yeah?!

I'm also linking up with Heather from Finding Beauty in the Ordinary for Cup 1/2 Full

Enjoy your Monday :)

  1. I also need to get myself on some sort of schedule. I have been staying up late the past month or so and it's impacting my day :/

I also need to take more pictures. I always tell myself I need to document my week better with instagram...and I do well for a few days and then slack off.

Good luck with the new schedule and since I'm 3 hours behind you in Seattle I will try my best to call you out when you post after your bedtime :)

  2. I love your organization board Jess! It's so creative. I too am getting myself on an earlier schedule & sleeping a lot better. I notice if I get up at the same time everyday, I have a lot more energy. Keeping a routine is essential! Catch you during the week girlfriend!

  7. A schedule is such a great thing! I'm do jealous of your bedtime...is it sad that I miss being a night owl. Your schedule definitely changes being a teacher. I try to be asleep by 10, which usually means trying to be in bed around 9:30. It's really hard to get everything done by 9:30. Blogging has def taking a hit lately with me. I think I should make a schedule too. I wish I was one of those that could schedule a whole weeks worth of posts at a time. Im lucky to do day by day. Happy happy Monday!

  10. I am so on the same boat as you! Woohoo for tackling it! You can do it. I feel like I have stepped back a lot from blogging...I felt guilty at first, but I am also getting a lot done. I didn't participate this week again (boo on me...sorry!), but I love the task this week and since the engagement is starting to simmer down, count me in!! :) :) Love you!!

  11. Good job, J! With a full-time job and a one-hour commute EACH WAY, I always feel the time crunch. And guess what took the backburner last week? Working out. Not okay! This week I'm throwing myself back into prioritized mode!

AND... linking up for STR should be no problem next week considering I do it every day. Literally, every day!

So even though I didn't blog about it...my goal this week is to FOR SURE do your Smell the Roses for next Monday. Because I love this one. Also I love your reminders wall. It is so colorful and organized. :)
