Protein Up!

Hi friends :)

As you may (or may not) know, I am a huge advocate of working out. I have a passion for fitness (maybe a passion for not getting fat is more accurate), and I make time to work out 6, if not 7, days a week. It's my way of unwinding from my day. I'm definitely a night worker outer (oops..made up a word). I can't do the whole wake up at 5 am and run a mile thing. I'm more of a wake up 30 minutes before I have to be out the door, swipe my hair into a ponytail, and pray I don't get stuck at too many red lights kinda girl.

There are two things that I always make sure of before conquering a workout:
1. I am warmed up & stretched.
2. I have a lot of protein in my system.

Since I usually work out before dinner, I like to have a little something before so that I'm not working out on an empty stomach. This is where my peanut butter banana smoothie comes in. And let me tell you, it is delish. It's more like a dessert to me than a protein shake (as you can probably tell by the picture)!

But it does its job - keeps me full throughout my workout and for an hour or two after so I can cool down before I eat an actual meal and gives me energy to keep stamina throughout my workouts.  It's SO easy to make (I promise - I'm a newbie in the kitchen) and only takes about 5 minutes.

What You'll Need:
I use Silk Pure Almond Unsweetened Milk, Peter Pan Whipped Peanut Butter,
Sugar Free Honey (any brand), Sugar Free Cool Whip,
& The Biggest Loser's All Natural Protein (vanilla flavored).
Not pictured: blender and 1 frozen banana
What You'll Do:

1. Put frozen banana (cut up before you freeze) in blender.
2. Put 1 tablespoon of peanut butter in blender.
3. Put 1 scoop (the scoop came with my protein) of protein powder in blender.
4. Put half a teaspoon of honey in blender.
5. Cover ingredients in blender with milk.
6. Blend all ingredients together.
7. Pour in your cup of choice, top with a teaspoon of cool whip, & enjoy!

Sometimes I drink it without planning on working out after. It's just that good.
So don't think you have to be some fitness guru to enjoy this treat!

I also told you guys that I was gonna share some pictures from my bike trip with Adam earlier this week so here they are!

We biked on a parkway trail, and yes I absolutely stopped a jogger (she looked like she needed a break..she was slowing to a walk) and asked her to take our picture. Adam thought I was crazy, but I wanted a picture to share with you guys! He also told me to pose on my bike, but I'm too short for my feet to reach the ground while I stratal the seat...just an awkward situation. I'm so glad we got mountain bikes for Christmas - it's so much fun! Even though we froze our little Florida buns off in the 60* windy weather..yikes!

And thank you all for saying a little prayer for my kitty - she is home and as playful as ever, recouping well :)

  2. So I just started working out today! I'm actually not a fan but it's something I know I need to do. Do you have any pointers? I intend on working out at home and also doing alot of walking once the weather warms up just a little. The peanut butter banana smoothie sounds delish. Do you mind if I pin it? I must try it sometime!

P.S. I added your button! Thanks again for adding mine :)

  3. Going to have to give that smoothie a try, sounds good! I'm a night worker outer too, I've tried to get up and do it before work, it does not go well! I'm usually like you running late and hoping the lights don't get me! Again glad Boots is doing well!

  5. This smoothie sounds delicious, although I don't usually eat or drink anything other than water before I workout because I tend to get stomach cramps...

  7. I'm so excited that I found your blog. I'm jumping on the get healthy 2012 bandwagon and I can't wait to try your smoothie. I struggle from the time that I get home from work until the time I go to bed...I'm always so tired and I feel like a lot of times I over eat because I am starving. I think your smoothie idea will be the perfect way to jump start my afternoons and hopefully give me more energy and less hunger pains!

By the way, I'm your newest follower!

  9. Wow, awesome job working out! I've just started. I'm definitely a night worker outer too. I'm on more of a '3rd shift' schedule since my boyfriend works late hours! I haven't rode a bike in a long time!

I'm glad your kitty is okay! My kitty is like my child and anytime he has to go to the vet, I think I suffer more than he does!
