52 in 2012 and More!

I did some serious planning for Lovely Little Things this weekend, and I'm super stoked for what is to come - I hope you'll stay with me as my blog grows :)

Here's a little bit about what's going on:

1. I added a sponsor page on my top navigation bar!
As of right now I'm doing swap sponsoring to get my blog out there and help other new bloggers do the same. You can find more details about that on the Sponsor page.

2. I've decided to sponsor a few of my favorite blogs in order to help get some exposure for my blog, also!
Maybe you'll see me in a feature post somewhere ;)

3. I changed Tuesday in the Weekly Line Up from DIY of the Week to Product Spotlight.
I realized that with school starting in less then two weeks (eek!) that I'm not going to have as much time to  devote to lengthy DIY projects. I could continue with simple DIY ideas, but I don't want to rip you guys off with cheesy projects. Plus, Product Spotlight fits in better with my blog anyway :) I'll be choosing one product a week (anything from a beauty product to a media product) to rave about. These will all be products that I use and love. Please know that as of right now, I am not being compensated by anyone to advertise the products I discuss in Product Spotlight. They're just things that I love and would recommend to any of my friends :)

4. I created a Facebook page for Lovely Little Things!
Go "like" it to keep up to date with what's going on and what's to come.
:)

5. And finally, as you may have noticed, I added another new page on the top navigation bar: 52 in 2012!
It is a list of goals that I want to achieve throughout 2012 - one for each week of the year.
(I don't expect to complete one per week necessarily though)
I am so excited to get started on this list and conquer it as the year goes on.
Do you have a list of goals for 2012?
Leave a comment with the link to it - I'd love to see what you guys want 2012 to hold!

Happy New Year, friends!

Happy New Year!

Here's to 2012 being full of lots of

love,
joy,
success,
inspiration,
and
laughs

Can't wait to see what all is in store!
Happy New Year from me to you :)

High Five for Friday!

It's Friday :)
Here are my top 5 favorite things from this week:

1. Joann Fabric's killer after Christmas sale! I stocked up on some sweet crafting supplies without breaking the bank.

2. I can wear my flannel PJ pants without sweating! This is a big deal, living in Florida and all.

3. I decided to have a blog button made! It should be up soon & I hope you guys grab it :)

4. My Essie nail polish collection is growing. At $9 a pop, I limit myself to 1-2 bottles per month, so it's exciting to see that they're finally starting to add up!

5. Lots of family time this week. I cherish my family more than they know!

Can you believe this is the LAST Friday in 2011?!

I've linked up with Lauren over at From My Grey Desk for High Five for Friday!
Go check her blog out!

Desk Makeover

Thursday already? I'm not complaining!
I spent the majority of last night revamping my desk area.
(After I cooked dinner for my boyfriend & brother, that is!)

It was my goal to have an organized (okay, even more organized than before) desk area before school started so that when I sit down to study or do homework I can focus and not worry about having to de-clutter my brain of all its ideas. Am I alone in feeling that my mind never shuts off? I'm always go, go, go...even when I'm "relaxing." Guess it's that neurotic type A personality thing again. I'll conquer it someday!

Anyway here is what I accomplished:

I'm already loving the reminder boards!
There's one for miscellaneous information, bills, my blog, and then the bottom right square is a dry erase calendar. I'll use that mostly to write due dates and exam dates for my classes.
The plan: when I get home take a card (hanging from a magnet on the calendar) and write down anything that I wanted to make a note of that day. My planner will come in handy for this, because I write down just about every single thought that goes though my mind throughout the day (sadly, I'm not exaggerating). Looking at my planner at the end of the day is kind of exhausting on the eyes because of all of the jumbled scribble - I'm hoping the reminder boards will help with this issue, too!

I'd love to add more decor, but since my desk is where Boots likes to take her kitty naps, I'll compromise and leave it as is :)

See, she's pretty territorial ;)

DIY of the Week: Mason Jar Headband Holder

Happy Wednesday - Friday will be here before we know it!
I'm excited to share my first DIY project with you guys :)

Now, a little disclaimer, I'm not a super DIY kind of girl, BUT I'm working on it.
I've always enjoyed crafting, but my vicious type A personality kinda kicks into high gear, and if everything is not just so once I am done, I am unhappy with the final product.
I'm working on that, too (as you guys will see when I post the final picture).

Since my hair is finally starting to grow out (yay!), I can finally wear headbands and have them actually look cute! This being said, I plan on buying a lot more headbands to add to my collection, so I'm gonna need a place to keep them organized (there's that pesky type A thing again).

I've seen this oatmeal canister version of a headband holder, but it was a bit bigger than I wanted.
So I did some brainstorming (and digging through my junk drawer) and came up with this!

It's a mason jar headband holder and SUPER quick and easy to make.
My goal was to make the top have a ruffled effect, but it didn't work out exactly like that, so I added some ribbon to disguise it ;) That's why in the supplies photo below there isn't any pictured.

So, let's get to it!

Time to Complete:
About 15 minutes

What You'll Need:
Hot glue gun, large mason jar (with lid), pretty scrapbook paper, Mod Podge (I used matte), painting sponge, scissors, ribbon (optional), and of course your headband collection

What You'll Do:
1. Cut the scrapbook paper to fit the mason jar. I measured right up underneath where the break for the lid is.

2. Spread Mod Podge on the cut paper. I'm sure hot glue would work, but it's easier to mold the Mod Podge to fit the shape of the jar. Wrap the jar with the paper.

3. Hot glue ribbon around bottom and top of the jar. This is an optional step :) But hey, who doesn't love some ribbon?

4. Glue the lid (the closed, flat side) to the bottom of the jar. It acts as a stand so the jar stands nice and straight.

5. Add your headbands, and enjoy your new, cute way to display your headbands!

Here it is in its new home:

I already have next week's project picked out!
It's a little more time consuming and involved, but it'll be worth it, I promise :)
Oh, and I changed the DIY post day to Tuesday.
If you look at the Weekly Line Up Tab at the top of the page, you can see what's coming on Wednesdays from now on :)

Happy DIY-ing!

Back to Reality

Today was my first day back to work after Christmas, so I hope I'm not alone when I say it was hard for me to come off of my holiday high. The few days that follow Christmas are always weird to me. All of the decorations coming down, radio stations playing their usual music rather than catchy Christmas tunes, no more sweets lining the kitchen counters (this is probably a good thing). Instead of strangers passing you by with a smile or a friendly wave, everyone is back to bumping into you and scowling at you as though you were a road block meant to specifically ruin their day. Oh well, Christmas had to end sometime! 363 days until next Christmas ;)

Anyway, I am obsessed with nail polish. Not so much on my fingernails, because they always get chipped and scuffed from typing at work (and on here), working out, or cleaning. But you won't ever catch me without some kind of polish on my toes! I got a new color by Essie (my absolute favorite brand of polish) called Carry On. It's a deep purple; it almost looks black. I like it, though, because it's a bit more subtle than black.

Excuse my Christmas flannel PJ pants...I like to crank my A/C down and pretend it's cooler than 81* in December. You can also kinda see what it looks like on my toes - perfect dark shade of polish for winter.

Although I wasn't stoked to get back to work, it was pretty dang cute to come home to this:

She's a cute one!
I hope you survived your first day back in reality, and that you're not having too much trouble coming off of your holiday high! I have a simple DIY project ready for tomorrow, so check back :)

Apartment Tour!

First off I hope you all had a very, merry Christmas :)
I sure did! It was nice getting to spend time with family that I don't get to see very often.

I'm excited to start following the Weekly Line Up (you can find it on my top navigation bar) today.
I have a few DIY projects floating around in my head that I'm ready to attempt (well almost ready - I need to make a stop at Joann's) and share.

Today, I wanted to give you guys a photo tour of my apartment.
It's my first place that is all mine, and I love it!
I'm always adding new things to make it feel homey & reflect my style.
So here it is:

This is my living room. As you can see, the color scheme is gray/yellow/black.
I love, love, love the built in shelving that's over by my little reading area.
The bottom right picture shows the DIY of the Week project from last week that I posted.
That big ball of light is actually tall, rectangular frosted glass lights - I don't really have floating orbs making their way around my apartment ;)
This is my dining room/desk area. My goal is to jazz up my desk organization. In the very bottom left corner of the top picture, you can see Boots' little kitty condo play place. She likes hanging out in here :) I spend a lot of time in here studying and working on stuff for my blog.

And here is the kitchen! I'm happy to say that I'm spending more time in here lately, trying to conquer new recipes!
(Almost every recipe is new to me, because I've been terrified of cooking for the past 20 years)
The top left picture is my meal planning board. I'm a health freak so I like to plan out my meals ahead of time to avoid coming home in a hungry rage and eating everything in my pantry.
And the bottom right is a picture of one of my favorite items in the world. My Keurig coffee/tea/hot cocoa maker. Who knew a little machine could bring someone so much happiness...

This is a little project I did when I moved in. I have so many pictures to display and this was a quick/cheap way to use a lot of them. It's hanging in the hallway near my bathroom & bedroom.

Well, this is the bathroom. Not much to say about it. I love my shower curtain, though!
Adam chose the color scheme in here :)

Here is my bedroom! It's kinda funny, because when I lived at home I took so much pride in my bedroom, because I spent so much time in there. Now it's pretty low on my priority list, since I basically only sleep in there. Since I'm renting, I chose not to paint the walls - I opted for pretty wall decals instead! And I got that jewelry holder from this Etsy shop. It is perfect! Turquoise and gray are my favorite colors, so that's why they are my room colors. Plus they're super tranquil and I'm all about that. I keep my bike in here, because it's new and I don't want to leave it out back for it to get rusty like my old one. I just pretend that I'm living in a cool NY based sitcom apartment ;)

I saved the best for last :) This is my back patio! It's huge for how small my apartment is. I am so glad to be on the lake - I go out there on the weekend and drink coffee and read (if the Florida weather is cooperating).
It's so pretty, and usually not many people are outside so it's nice to be able to relax out there.

Well there you have it - my stomping grounds.
I'm planning on doing some DIY projects over the next few weeks to make it as homey as possible, so I wanted to show you guys what I'm working with :)

Merry Christmas!

Boy, do I love Christmas.
Christmas trees, songs, candles, snowmen, lights, gifts - I love it all!
Makes my heart happy :)

I really love the traditions that go along with Christmas, too!
Every Christmas Eve my family goes out to dinner, goes to my grandparents' church's candle light service, and then we go back to my grandparents' (dad's side) house to open gifts.

Then on Christmas morning my brother and I open gifts at our parents house.
It's kinda weird this year, because it's the first Christmas that neither one of us lives at home.
After opening gifts with my parents, we get together with my mom's side of the family and eat lunch and exchange gifts with them. The last few years I've made my way over to Adam's family get together after that. It's two whole days filled with laughter and lots of love :)

This year my goal is to put all distractions aside and focus on my loved ones and the birth of my Savior!
What an awesome way to spend Christmas, yeah?

P.S. I posted a new navigation page called Weekly Line Up!
It lets you guys know what's coming every day of the week :)
I'm gonna try my very hardest to post everyday.

Merry Christmas, lovelies!
Enjoy time with the people you love!

Mail's Here!

One thing that I love is getting things in mail.
I have since I was a little girl.
I like getting emails, but nothing is like going outside (or out to the lobby in my case, since I live in an apartment) to check your mail and seeing a handwritten letter or a fun package waiting for you to rip open! I think that's one of my favorite things about this time of year - receiving things via snail mail, UPS, or FedEx (bless the people that work there during the holiday season!)

Today I checked my mail and viola, amidst all of the bills, coupons, and grocery store ads was a nice little package that I have been so excitedly awaiting from Elisabeth Ashlie :)
I have been an Etsy junkie for about a year and half now, and I have yet to be disappointed with anything I've bought. This time was no different!

I ordered a long necklace that has a silver chain with a turquoise stone and a cream rosette headband. Absolutely adorable!

I'd been looking for a necklace like that (without breaking the bank!) for some time now, so I was pretty stoked to find this one!

Happy Christmas Eve, Eve :)
I hope you get something special in the mail this Christmas season!

High Five for Friday!

Since I usually have Fridays off from work (but not today!), I really need to focus on how happy these 5 things made me throughout the week :)

1. My new blog design, that I am loving just so much. It is so me, and it gets me excited to blog! Allison from Green Tangerine Design did an awesome job :)

2. Along with number 1, I leaned how to edit my pictures using Picnik. Basic edits, but edits nonetheless! Yay for not having weird things lurking in the background of my photos anymore!

3. Last night was my church's first service in our new building. We rented a building before so we could only gather there on Sundays mornings. It was so awesome to have a candlelight Christmas Eve service on a Thursday night in our very own building!

This photo was taken by Curt Hensley. He was one of the guys playing drums for worship. Hence the glass-looking drum cage on the picture!

4. I finally caved in after hearing how amazing Birchbox is, and I have no guilt for caving. So excited to get my first box on January 10th!

5. I finished all of my Christmas shopping AND wrapping! This is truly a miracle since I am usually  frantically running around on Christmas Eve trying to finish everything up.

This is the table that my DIY centerpiece from yesterday's post is going to call home once Christmas is over!

I'm linking up with Lauren over at From My Grey Desk for High Five for Friday!
You should link up, too :)

Happy, happy Friday!

DIY Thursday!

As I mentioned in yesterday's post,  I'll be posting a weekly DIY project.
I figured I'd go ahead and post it today since starting tomorrow my life will be revolving around all things Christmas until Sunday night :) And I'm totally okay with that!

The picture is from a text that my grandma sent me, but I edited it (and added my watermark..yippee!) using Picnik. More about that tomorrow!

I needed a centerpiece for the sofa table that is near the entryway of my apartment.
I'd been searching Pinterest (imagine that) for some inspiration, when I came across this from Olive & Cocoa. I loved the modern look - I'm not into girly decor, but I also needed some greenery to make the place feel homey :) Sadly, I wasn't willing to pay $58 for the piece from Olive & Cocoa, since I'm on a college budget (sympathy gladly accepted).

This is where the handy DIY method comes in!
A guy at work built me the box, and my grandma painted and filled the box.
(I know that I'M supposed to be the one "doing it myself" and from now on I will be..promise! But this project was too cute not to share!)
Nothing too complicated but it's so cute, and it's going to make such a difference in my living room.
The living room colors are gray & yellow so this fits in perfectly.
Oh, and the candles smell like heaven. Clean linen - one of my favorite scents.

My favorite thing about DIY projects is that you can have designer looking pieces for a fraction of the cost!
Plus you get the satisfaction of claiming the piece as your own work ;)

Happy DIY-ing!
:)

Blog Makeover!

Welcome to my new & improved blog - Lovely Little Things :)
I am more than excited about it!
I worked with Allison, from Green Tangerine Design, to spruce things up, and the outcome is absolutely, well...lovely! She was such a joy to work with, and the process was so easy and affordable (always a plus for a college student). I'm still learning a few things, like how to edit my pictures and add the watermark to them (Allison made that, too).

Here are some of the visions that I have for Lovely Little Things:

Updating at least every other (ideally every) day,
changing the quote under the "Say What" side bar weekly,
connecting & interacting with other bloggers,
and what I'm most excited about...writing weekly features!

I'm hoping to achieve some consistency with the features.
I'm not going to restrict these posts to certain days (excluding High Five for Friday..hence the name), just know that they'll be posted weekly.
This is what I have in mind for now:
(note: changes possible!)

High Five for Friday
This will obviously be posted on Fridays, and it is a list of my 5 favorite things of the week.
(I'm linking up with Lauren over at From My Grey Desk for this one!)

DIY of the Week
It's basically going to be a DIY project (fashion, home decor, recipe, etc) that I have attempted that week.
This will keep my creative juices flowing, even when I feel like they're all dried up.

I want at least one more weekly feature, but I'm still weeding through a few ideas :)
I'll let you guys know when I decide on one.

I hope you like the new blog design as much as I do!
If you're ever in need of website design that is affordable, user-friendly, and um, super adorable go on over to Green Tangerine Design, and let them work their magic :)

Holy Christmas!

WOW. December 21...just wow. Christmas has really creeped up on me!
Where the heck has December gone?

Well I can officially say that as of about oh, 10 minutes ago..
I. AM. DONE. with my Christmas shopping & wrapping.
I think this is a record for me.
I'm usually rushing around on Christmas Eve trying
to pull everything together and praying for a miracle.
But not this year, and boy does it feel fantastic!

Here are a few pictures from the Christmas party I went to this weekend :)

My outfit for the party. It was casual..obviously. A white tunic from Victoria Secret, gray tights and teal earrings from Target, and brown(ish) boots from overstock.com. My hair is getting long enough to curl...yippee!
Dinner for 23!
Adam & I decorating the tree :)
(excuse my crazy fly away curl!)
The girls!
White Elephant gift exchange...I ended up with a Black Swan DVD!
We decorated stockings and hung them by the...thermostat with care?
And this was Britt & I by the end of the night - wiped out!
This is one of my brother & I.
(PS - I'm older...yeah)
My little Christmas corner at my apartment :)
Oh yes! Big, exciting news!
Please forgive me for the not so great editing of the pictures.
I just downloaded an editing program and plan on using it when I get my watermark..YES my very own watermark! Actually my entire blog is getting a makeover and I am overjoyed :)
Ready to take it to the next level - especially since I'm taking a blogging class this spring at school.
AH! So incredibly excited.

Happy Wednesday :)

Goodies!

Against my better judgement I went to Barnes and Noble & Target today to wrap up some loose Christmas ends. I say against my better judgment, because Target just about owns my soul. Okay, not really, but I am a bit obsessed with the place.

I did accomplish what I needed to get done...and then some. Pictured below :)

I have been on a Disney kick lately and so I couldn't pass up that calendar. It's Disney scenes painted by the artist, Thomas Kinkade - I love it because even though the pictures are of cartoons, they don't look cartoon-y.

Then there's that planner. Oh, don't even get me started on my love for planners. I think I buy a new one like 4 times a year. I get all giddy when I know that I have a blank planner just waiting to be scribbled in. Okay, enough nerding out.

Those turquoise earrings were a good little find  - they look heavy but they're super light. Earrings are definitely my go-to jewelry of choice!

And the mascara is Cover Girl's Professional Super Thick Lash. I just ran out of my old one, and Lauren over at From My Grey Desk said she swears by this stuff, so I thought I'd give it a try.

I refuse to set foot in Target until after Christmas!
...maybe ;)

High Five Friday!

My top 5 favorite things of the week are:

1. I started Christmas Break today at 4:30 and I could not be more relieved! One whole, glorious month with no homework, studying, or group projects...pure bliss!

2. First successful week with my new roomie (and kitty), Boots!
Today is one week that she has been living with me, and we are both still alive and have grown to love each other :)

How adorable is she?!
The top right picture is her napping in my trash can while I study!

3. Christmas bonuses at work were given out today...hallelujah! Now I can finish my Christmas shopping tomorrow!

4. I played catch up and finished season 1 of New Girl. Have I mentioned how much I love Zooey?

5. I bought all new makeup this week and learned how to apply it without looking like a clown!
(Thanks to Lauren, over at From My Grey Desk, and her makeup tutorial post!)

I'm linking up with From My Grey Desk, because I love the idea of High Five Friday.
Obviously I love Friday, plus it's a good way to reflect and appreciate the small things that happened throughout the week!

Chicken Cajun Pasta!

I'm about to dive into studying (a better word would probably be cramming) for the GRE so I can't write a long post, but I do want to share a little something.

My brother's girlfriend is out of town, and since he lives in my apartment complex I cooked him dinner tonight. I'm not much of a cook, but I'm learning. Tonight I attempted a chicken cajun pasta recipe - and it was pretty de-licious, if I do say so myself!

I got the recipe from The Small Things Blog (love, love, love that blog).

My brother told me that it was really good and that the chicken was cooked perfectly-all I gotta say is move outta the way Rachael Ray! ;)

I will definitely be making this again!

Oh yeah, those are frozen grapes in my wine.
I like my wine really chilled, and plus the grapes are a nice little treat once I'm finished with the glass of wine :)

If you want to give this recipe a shot, you can find it here.

Happy cooking!

Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party!

Happy Monday!
I hope you made it through the day :)

Last night Adam took me to Disney World for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party!
He's been taking me every December since we've been dating (5 years), and it never gets old.
Every time we both leave in awe of how magical that place is.
Definitely brings out the kids in us :)

It rained for a good part of the night, but we just bought some ponchos and went on our merry little way. My favorite part is always the firework show above Cinderella's Castle - more specifically, when Tinkerbell "takes flight" and ascends from the top of the castle into the crowd.
I would totally be up for trying that! This is the first year that we have actually gotten a decent spot to watch the parade, and it is just so mind blowing how well put together all of the characters are - from the toy soldiers all the way up to the ever so famous Disney princesses - everyone looks so perfect, and they are always on point and in character.

And of course we had our fair share of complementary hot cocoa and snicker doodles; let me tell you it is not cheap-o, watered down hot chocolate or store bought, boxed cookies - it is Disney quality and oh so delicious! Adam also insisted on buying me a coffee mug of Minnie's lower body - sounds weird but it's totally adorable (I'll post a picture below!) Can't wait for next year already!

We also got 90% of our Christmas shopping DONE this weekend, which is a miracle since we usually wait until about three days before Christmas.

I couldn't decide which picture to post so I made a little collage :)
The bottom left picture is my new coffee mug!

Off to cram for the GRE!

Welcome, BOOTS!

So my decision was made, and I adopted a kitten!
I wanted to name her Stella originally, but after meeting her it just didn't fit.
Adam picked the name Boots...I'm hoping that maybe he'll like her a little bit more since he got to choose her name. He's NOT a cat person in the least.

She's super playful, very curious, and not really afraid of much.
I put her in her kitty bed last night, but when I woke up she was curled on the pillow next to me.
Precious. She cracks me up already! She's super vocal and likes to meow and chase the bell on her collar. My favorite thing is when she plays with her reflection in the mirror!

So, meet BOOTS!

I hope her and I get along well and that she is a good roomie :)
Happy weekend!

Sanity!

This finals week has been BRUTAL.
I've done nothing but work, workout, eat, study, and sleep (barely) the past few days.
I'm drained!

Two things that are keeping me sane right now (besides coffee) are Target & Biotin.
Weird combination, I know.

Target is my home away from home.
I go in there at least three times a week and cannot walk out of there without spending at least $30. Adam thinks I have a problem. He's probably right. I just cannot resist buying a shirt, a pair of shoes, a knick knack for the apartment, crafting supplies, or anything else that steals my attention. I just love everything Target!

And Biotin. If you didn't know, I've had short hair (like buzzed in the back short) for almost four years now. It was a cute style, and I always got compliments from people telling me how well it suited me. But after four years of not being able to do much with my hair, I decided it's time to grow it out! Time for a change. I miss having a ponytail or a side braid. Thanks to Biotin, my hair has finally taken a growth spurt :) It's not nearly as long as I want it to be, but I can totally see a difference after taking the Biotin.

These two things make me smile when I all I want to do is cry, rip the pages out of all of my textbooks, and use them as tissues.

The bright side...tomorrow is my last final, and then I have to take the GRE next Friday.
Followed by three weeks of study-less bliss.
I can see the light at the end of the tunnel...

Quick Lunch!

I have a few extra minutes for lunch at work today and wanted to share this great idea that I found on Pinterest (have I mentioned how much I love Pinterest?!)! It's a salad in a mason jar - I made it last night, and it's still good today. The original pinner said that as long as the dressing is on the bottom, the leaf of choice is on the top, and the two don't touch then it will stay fresh without getting soggy. I put some croutons in a ziploc bag, and before I ate I dumped them in the mason jar and shook it all up. Delicious, healthy lunch and easy clean up, too :) My jar has 3 tablespoons of a fat-free red wine and olive oil dressing (I can't remeber the exact kind but it's Newman's brand), a layer of green/yellow/red peppers, a layer of red onions, a layer of green onions (better grab some breath mints), a layer of tomatos, and finally some spinach to top it off. Not only does it taste good, I think it looks pretty fancy! Give it a try!

Hello Finals Week!

It is officially finals week...
...Enter coffee & Red Bull... and lots of it!

But I have to admit, my weekend was a good one :)
Since I should really be studying for my communications ethics final, I'll just post some pictures of how awesome it was instead of writing too much about it!

Adam's Christmas present arrived in the mail on Friday.
And since I am SUCH a sucker - he doesn't have to wait until Christmas...I know, I'm terrible!

One of my friends, Roger, took a girl on a date and asked her to be his girlfriend. He asked me to set everything up, and of course I had to say yes :) I asked my friend, Danielle, to come with me. Adorable (even my creeper picture from the bushes)!

Adam took me to see Christmas lights :) An older man offered to take our picture, but he couldn't figure out how to take a picture from my iPhone - bless his heart! So this is me giggling at the old man, and Adam trying to explain to him how to snap the picture!

And last night I went to see The Fray with Brittany, Danielle, and Christine! The Fray was amazing. I'm super short so didn't get a picture. Since it was "The Play in the Snow Show" there was "snow" (aka bubbles) floating around. It was cool at first, but after about 5 minutes of swallowing soap bubbles the crowd started chanting, "No more snow! No more snow!" The band that opened for The Fray was an English band called Scars on 45 - I was pretty impressed and ended up downloading their CD. Yay for new music :)

Okay. Now that I've mopped, dusted, and vacuumed my apartment, worked out, and did a blog post - I guess it would probably be a good idea to get to studying.

Kitten or No Kitten?

I never thought I would even be considering getting a kitten.

I just moved into my own apartment (just me!), and I wanted to get a puppy.
Puppies require a lot of time and a lot of energy - both things that I lack thanks to school and work. So I hung that idea up. But I've always had a pet, and I miss having a little buddy!

The reason I've put cats on the "not a chance" list is, because when I lived with my parents my mom had a few cats...14....yeah. So needless to say, I was a bit cat-ed out. I was grossed out by:

  • how they climbed all over the counter
  • the enormous amount of cat hair everywhere (and I mean everywhere, people!)
  • how the house smelled like a giant litter box when you walked in
  • the fact that you couldn't walk 3 steps without stepping on either a cat, a cat toy, or a cat treat.
It pretty much scarred me for life and caused me to deem myself anti-cat.
BUT I've decided to reconsider. I really want a little snuggle buddy, and now that I have the opportunity to have just ONE cat instead of 14, maybe it won't be so bad.

So, I think I've come to the decision that I'm going to adopt a little kitten.
I really, really hope its cute cuddliness outweighs the fact that I have to scoop its poop out of a box!
